As a Family Nurse Practitioner in the walk-in clinic, Amy diagnoses and treats acute, episodic, or chronic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team, with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. She can order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and X-rays and prescribe medication.
Education
Amy Shultz graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota. She then completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND.
Amy has 26 years of experience as a registered nurse working with patients in the nursing home, home health, assisted living, and being a float nurse in the hospital and urgent care settings.
Certification
Amy is certified by The American Association of Nurse Practitioners(AANP). She is licensed by the board of nursing for both Minnesota and North Dakota as an RN and APRN. Amy is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the North Dakota Nurse Practitioner Association. She is also a Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing member.
Interests and Activities
Amy is continuing her education through South Dakota State University in 2024-2026 to get her Post-Grad psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) certificate. With this, she will also be able to assess, diagnose, and treat the mental health needs of patients.
Amy enjoys roller-skating, hiking, biking, and camping with her husband, Trent. She also loves hand embroidery, her two mini-dachshunds, Stanley and Zena, and being with her grown children and 3 grandsons.
